. Croatia line-up confirmed:
Not a bad effort from a young Wales side who were never allowed to find any rhythm through a combination of good play and quite a lot of aggressive stuff from Croatia. Bale was hacked down twice and the over the top tackle on Joe Allen should have led to a red card. Foul count 15-6. Croatia enjoyed far more possession but the shot count was 10 apiece with Wales getting 6 on target to 2.
This was always going to be a tough ask against a quality team but the question has to be put as to why Wales didn't respond with some rough stuff of their own and target Modric who always makes Croatia tick. Bale was heavily marked, literally, and didn't contribute a great deal whilst Modric was allowed an armchair ride to strut his stuff. I hope we learn to fight fire with fire in the future. Let's hope we get something against Hungary.
