What an incredible game between us and New Zealand with the match on a knife edge to the very end. Neither team deserved to lose but that's all I'm going to say in case anyone wants to catch the highlights. What I will say is catch it if you can because the finish was unique in the history of cricket. A truly fantastic game and talk about fine margins!!!!!!!!!!

A respected former umpire has said that England were wrongly awarded an extra run when the ball deflected off Stoke's bat. England were given 6 runs but it should only have been 5 as the batsmen hadn't crossed when the incident occurred. The rules about this sort of situation are vague but the Kiwis can feel really hard done by if this umpire is correct.

As it is, neither side deserved to lose a truly great match but England got the breaks particularly when Stokes was caught on the boundary but the fielder put his foot over the 'rope'. Six runs less and Stokes out. Fine margins as I said.

Cricket has now adopted a football idea in that the players name and number appears on the back of their shirts. Love the legend now carried by the England captain in this Ashes Test match: Root 66.

Just watched the finish of the Test match described by one commentator/pundit as a once in a lifetime experience! Was watching the Citeh game and flipped channels during an injury break to check out the cricket score. England wanted 73 runs with just one wicket left so I figured I'd just watch the last rites before switching back to football. What a finish!!!! o_O England went on to get the runs and won the game by one wicket after being dismissed for just 67 in the first innings. The last time something similar was achieved was 131 years ago!!!!!

Ben Stokes, admirably supported by Jack Leach, was IMMENSE. He brilliantly farmed the strike to protect Leach and, in between, smashed the ball to all parts of the ground to score 135 not out - described by ex England captain Michael Vaughan as the greatest test innings he had ever seen.

It was a fantastic watch, so intense and on a knife edge to the very end (Oz just needed the last wicket to seal the Ashes series). Who said cricket was boring? Well, it can be but it was a privilege to watch this one.
