A column filler in the Sun is reporting that Eddie Howe wants to sign Connor. They say that Trevor Birch will ask £10 million. Hope this is just gossip.

Why are we paying this Birch a high salary, when the job he's doing could be done by a schoolboy, selling our star players, never any mention of him moving on any of the deadwood. I repeat part of his statement.
"We have to balance our squad to cope with life in the Championship, and there will be player movement both in and out. That's a harsh fact of football life.
We recognise we have to balance the right sale prices".

Even to an imbecile selling our star players doesn't balance the squad, common sense tells you that you reduce the overheads by disposing of the rubbish. Any fool would know that selling the family silver is the road to disaster. We all know full well that any (if any) incoming players will be no comparison to those that leave. Birch is beginning to show the reason the yanks employed him. He's been brought in as a hatchet man.
If he wants to prove how good he is start off instead by selling keeper Nordy.

For me .... all of these "reports" from "journalists" are fake news and page fillers. If it's not on BBC web site or the Club web site or it doesn't come out of Man-in-Pub .... then it's not meaningful.

Birch wouldn't have tried to make Potter a sweetheart deal or resigned Routs if he wasn't serious about trying to move us forward. I'm being optimistic again.

As for the new owners ... there's a pragmatic if not practical difference between wanting to run something down and not knowing WTF you're doing.

The appointment of BoBo as manager was a clear indication that they were out of their depth. The dismissal of HJ and the hiring of Birch is some indication that finally they recognized their limitations -- driven by distance, know-how and experience -- and made an honest attempt to bring in a business person with practical experience of clubs in some distress. Apparently we're skint .... I can't wait to see the financials for the year about to end and compare to last year's. This is also testimony to the point that they didn't know what they were doing, "trusted in Huw", and got left holding a bag of bad paper in terms of pay-offs to sacked coaching teams, players' contracts and players' registrations that frankly were never good enough to merit a fraction of what we paid or the comp they were given.

Over the last 3 years, HJ was acting like a person drowning .... desperately trying to do any bull shit thing he could to survive ... but not drowning quick enough so that he could release his grip on the Club and not take us down with him.

But maybe Birch tried to make Potter that sweetheart deal just to carry on the blooding of academy recruits into the first team as saleable assets.
Just looking at it from the yanks side of the coin.

Having watched the under 23s last season I think the cupboard is bare , there's not much talent left there , they even released King , who looked like he could be a reasonable prospect !
We will have to search elsewhere for squad fillers next season .
