Bog off Brighton

They've got some nerve. They really think there's much difference in stature between the two clubs?

They've been in the Prem less time than Swansea were in it, and already look like relegation favourites for next season, while Swansea look like playoff favourites at least (assuming players stay, and one or two added, wishful thinking I know).

There's a chance the clubs will pass each other via relegation and promotion next season, they've got no real spending power and their top scorer is 107 years old. How is that an attractive proposition?

"Hey Graham, we know it took you a long time to decide to uproot your entire family from Sweden to take the Swansea job, and we somehow think you'll be willing to uproot them again less than a year later for no real career benefit. You in?"

Thing is, if Potter is the kind of man who will jump ship from Swansea for so little incentive, he'll also be the kind of man who'll jump ship from Brighton to join Everton 6 months later. So why ask?

Good points @jackodiamonds . I will be surprised if Potter leaves us. Unless there is something that recently has happened within the club which has made him really angry. Let's say Birch has informed Potter that the club intend to sell most of our young stars to fill the hole in finances?

I hope that isn't what's happens. For me, Birch must have been brought in with the remit to sell the Ayew's, Borja, Montero and Carroll. He comes with a reputation, which means he's good at what he does. You don't need to be good at anything to sell James, Grimes, McBurnie etc. Who doesn't want exciting, talented, young players? The other lot though...

Plus, the owners agenda is still to get promoted and back to the big money league - tearing up the new shoots of this team while there's next to nothing left in the youth department would be a case of diminishing returns, not rebuilding, and will be more likely to get the club relegated than promoted, and they know that. If they want (huge amounts of tv) money, the only way to get it in this game is to build a successful club that competes at the top level, and based on this season's progress, Potter and the majority of the young players are key to that in the short to medium term.

Saying that, Potter's £3M release clause is a slight cause for concern. They might wanna renegotiate that, keep any temptation at bay.

A new deal is not what'll keep him at the Liberty. He is seeking assurances over transfers, both ins and outs. And rightly so, after what they did to him in the January transfer window. They tried to sell James and Fer behind his back. We'll see.
As you say CJ, a bigger pay packet isn't going to keep him. He needs to know he's not wasting his time building a team to be sold on. Let's just see how much the yanks want to keep him. No incoming or outgoing players without his approval, written into a contract, starting with James. Birch to dispose of players not on Potters wanted list, and only those, let Birch start earning his salary. Potters future at the club!! The ball is well and truly in the yanks court.

They've started well by not renewing Routs contract ! I wonder what input Potter had in losing one of his most influential squad members ?
