GREAT!! Surely 3 points for us now. :D:D:D Fair play, after a lifeless first half this was a great turnaround.

Well that was a good turn around.

Connor has an incredible engine on him. He ran a marathon today and was still sprinting at the end.

Big impact by Fulton.

Dan James ... what else to sat other we don't need a Mac when we have a Dan

This result means that Tony Mowbray has lost all four games his teams have played against us (3 with Middlesborough). Can we play his teams every week please? :) Stats as follows Swans first.

Possession: 55-45 Shots: 16-9 OT: 2-3 Corners: 5-4 Fouls: 11-13

One critical comment: We had 16 shots with just 2 on target (the OG not counted). To be honest, this is terrible and HAS to improve. I'm not carping but this ratio just isn't good enough.

Dreaming

Dan James on right wing, Montero on the left Celina no.10 , Bony up front.

Make it happen Potter , be the best Xmas prezzy ever !
James is best on the left flank. And better than Montero imho.

James 1,9 shots per game (more than Oli), 81,3 % passing accuracy and can play 90 minutes every game.

Montero 0,0 shots per game, 65,8 % passing accuracy and can play only
30 minutes every fifth game.

I'd rather see Roberts on the right flank, and Montero as a sub for James.

In fairness to Montero, his game isn't to score goals but to assist. 90% of his play is to draw defenders, get to the byline which has defenders facing their goal and chip in a cross. When he's on the park he's possibly our most dangerous player.

I think it's becoming crystal who our top players are, what our best combination of players is, and that we're so much better on the front foot, playing at tempo, with the objective of owning the ball, bossing the ball and playing in the top third than trying to contain with a more defensive posture.

Cream always rises and James is cream ... McKay is skim milk at best. Fulton was strong and creative when he came on. Celina is better as a #10, out wide he is wasted. Naughton is better on the field because he releases Connor to be everywhere on the right hand side - last night our RB showed up in an inside right position and finished like he's always played there. No other team can match that in this league.

Chipping perfect crosses is not enough. Wingers have to shoot and score goals, otherwise you are too limited as a team. We have seen it in the past when we have been too dependent on crosses and a big lump up front - we struggled, and got relegated.

McBurnie have been inches away from scoring from James' perfect crosses, and that's a proof that crosses shouldn't be the main attacking weapon. Many Swansea fans think that we need a clinical finisher. That would be nice, but what we need more is that five or six players score regularly. And our wingers, who are, together with our striker and attacking midfielder, closest to opposion goal, should shoot more and score goals. That's why I prefer James, and that's why I think he is a better winger than Montero.

So, if Potter wants us to score goals, James should be playing on the left, Roberts on the right flank, McBurnie up front until Bony is fit, and Celina behind as an attacking midfielder. Fer and Fulton in the central midfield give us some steel. Fer is good at forward running, forward passing and creating attacks; Fulton can score goals. Back four should be Olsson, Rodon, Van der Hoorn and Naughton. Mulder as goalkeeper.

That's why we need Bony. He has the instinct to make those inches count. Plus he scores goals out of nothing that Oli doesn't.

Absolutely agree.

They do.

No brainer - unless Connor plays as a raiding wing back with Nauts midfield.

You say " McBurnie have been inches away from scoring from James' perfect crosses, and that's proof crosses shouldn't be the main attacking weapon" Surely that means a more prolific striker would have put them away, I'm not suggesting that wide play should be our only form of attack, but our lightweight midfield play down the middle is often halted by a strong back four, a winger and especially Montero gets behind them.Team selection is very much 'Horses for courses'.in the managers view. Had we still had Llorenti on the books a fit Monteros' inclusion would have been a must.

We looked so good in the second half and if we can keep producing 90 minute performances like that, we really will threaten the top of the table. That header Oli missed on 33' is one that I'm sure Bony would have buried and I have to say that some of Olssen's crosses were delicious. Not having a go at Oli by the way; he always puts in a shift and his link up play was good. Loved the weight of the passes for the last two goals and the great movement to make them possible. Very heartened by that second 45.

PS: Have got to say what a great game Dan James had. If he continues to develop we'll have a real potent weapon there. Defenders HATE players running at them with pace and young Dan's got that in spades.

A run of games and a bit more confidence and Dan will be scoring plenty of goals for us.

Lesson one. It doesn't pay to time waste when you're 1-0 up. The fourth official added it back on in the first half and in the second when Blackburn tried to take quick kicks or throwins the ref made them take them from the right place.

Well that was a game of two halves! I know which one I preferred - there is something about the mere presence of Fer that changes the confidence ambition and spirit of this squad - Carroll was disastrous in the first half imho - too lightweight and his passes were most often mis-timed...on the same subject I notice Oli is also struggling to hit the mark - he makes a good fist of looking busy but he’s fag papers away on all his shots and a number of his key passes - is he bring played out of position or not getting proper service? I’m not sure - but it pains me to say he’s been mediocre of late imho - James and Roberts are immense - let’s hope Oli can pull his socks up in the not too distant future. 🙈
