Been eating a lot of KFC recently for convenience and should have posted this earlier. The Sun newspaper had a page of vouchers for KFC. There were 15 in all - 3 x Fillet Burger & Fries at £2.49; 3 x Flamin' or BBQ Wraps at £1.00; 3 x Mini Fillet Burger at £1.00; 3 x Two Piece and Fries at £2.49 and 3 x 10 piece Bargain Bucket with four regular fries at £9.99. Decent saving on usual prices and saves me having to cook when I'm in a rush or can't be bothered. :D

I was in Home Bargains today and spotted some Manns Brown ale on the shelves. Haven't drunk this in yonks, so I'm chilling it off to have with a late dinner/supper tonight. A 500ml bottle cost just 89p and I'm hoping it will taste as nice as I remember it.

When I first started drinking I preferred dark beer or cider to bitter and lager and, for those who know it, I used to go to the Welcome Inn on Llangyfelach common - it was quieter than the Raven in Penlan or the Wildfowler in Clase, where I could almost guarantee to get into a fight with someone whether I was looking for one or not!!

Anyway, my first tipple of choice was a brown and dark mild (both Trumans). It was so creamy with an almost sweet taste and I loved it. But my real preference was off the top shelf as I was also a militant whisky drinker. In those days, spirits cost a LOT more than beer so I became something of a pariah amongst my mates and, when I was drinking shorts, got excluded from the rounds with a few 'fuck yous' ringing in my ears. Happy days!! :ROFLMAO:

Decided to skip breakfast and lunch today and go for a brunch. Went to Morrisons in Carmarthen to do a shop and when I finished I had a 'Big Daddy' breakfast usually priced at £6 but on offer at £5 until 3pm. GREAT value this!! It comprised 3 large sausages, 3 thick cut bacon rashers (there were 4 on my plate), 3 hash browns, 2 fried eggs, 2 halves of tomato, 2 black pudding plus lots of mushrooms and baked beans. I opted for buttered toast instead of fried bread to keep my weight down.;). Tea was £1.20 extra for a pot that contained enough for almost two mugs.

Feel stuffed now and won't have dinner until quite late this evening. Hector's pissed off though cos he didn't get his usual scrounges at breakfast and lunch. :D

Home Bargains have a snip in drinks. The other day I saw Pepsi Max bottles with ginger on offer, 500ml size. I wasn't sure about the ginger, so I bought one just to try. Delicious!! Had to go back the following day, so I bought another 15 bottles at only 19p each!! Now a 500ml bottle of Pepsi can retail anywhere between 75p and £1.05, so go figure the saving. As it happens I called for fuel at my local filling station on the way home and, coincidentally, noticed that they were selling the self same drink for £1.69!! Of course, in common with such places they charge a hefty premium on drinks, crisps and confectionery etc, so I never dream of buying anything from them unless it's something I desperately need at that point in time. Stocks won't last long at that price, so if you want to top up your soft drinks fridge, pop in when you're next passing.

My electric toothbrush packed in recently so I was chuffed to get an excellent deal at Home Bargains today. They are selling a Colgate ProClinical 250R leccy fangscrub for £9.99 instead of the usual RRP of £49.99. That's a bargain by any standards. Don't know how well it performs as it's on charge now but I would expect a decent product from Colgate and if it doesn't suit, it comes with a warranty. If you need one, looks a no-brainer.

Forgot to post this but a couple of months ago I popped into a Timpsons branch at Morrison's in Carmarthen to get a battery in my watch, which is a bog standard timepiece. Nothing fancy, just a Sekonda. I nearly fell over when they quoted me £24.95 to fit a new battery and £29.95 for a lifetime warranty!! Are they mad?? Granted it was a couple of years ago but when I last had a battery fitted to the watch, I called into the indoor market in Ammanford and the guy there did it for £5.50. I know prices will have gone up but, even if they've doubled, the cost will still be only half as much as Timpsons demanded. How do these people ever stay in business?

I've got a Raymond Weil swiss watch. First time I needed a new battery I took it to my point of purchase and they had to send it away, cost was £89 ! I nearly fell through the floor !
Recently took it to Ernie Jones in the quadrant who did it on site for £7.00

If you happen to be in Tesco look out for their own brand baked beans. I bought a 4 pack of large cans for just 70p. Actually, I bought two packs. You have been warned!! :D

Tesco and morrisons own brand curry sauce is half the price of other brands and is excellent. I fully recommend their madras and jalfreizi sauces.

Still bargains to be had if you look for them. Went to Morrisons yesterday for a top up and, of course, there were no toilet/kitchen rolls or hand soap etc. No worries because I've got plenty anyway. Then went to the short-dated stuff and bagged the following:

2 x containers egg and potato salad with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes & cucumber etc
400g sliced deli ham
Large tub of pimento stuffed Halkidiki queen olives
Half honeydew melon
2 x apple and grape snack packs
Triple pack chicken and bacon Caesar wraps
Container fresh pineapple pieces
2 x bread & butter puddings
3 x sushi packs (12s)
Mexican chicken pasta
2 x packs of deli ready sliced roast pork with stuffing - ideal for a roast dinner and butties. (Paid £2.95 instead of £11.76)

Think everyone else was preoccupied by ransacking all the 'popular' stuff which suited me because I spent just £10.20 instead of £37.08 for my bargains. Result!! :)

Got some great short-dated stuff at Morrisons today. No queues, just walked in and went straight to the bargains. :)

2 x packs of haddock loins
battered cod &chips
2 x large packs of chicken pieces (not the wafer thin stuff)
3 x packs Richmond pork sausages
Pack of 10 Edwards of Conwy chipolatas
Bowl of salad with sour cream dressing
Beansprouts
Singapore noodles
Pepper stir fry
Chicken & parmesan fettuccini
Chicken & bacon sandwich filler
trimmed salad onions
2 x packs of fresh peas and carrots
Tray of Mediterranean roasting veg
McCain shake & shake paprika chips

That lot should have cost about £40 and I paid less than a tenner! My freezers are full now, which is just as well because I shudder to think about the weight I'm putting on. :(:ROFLMAO:

Went to Tesco yesterday just for cigarettes and as I checked out the short-date stuff up walked this lovely young lady clutching a pricing gun to do even more discounts. Lucky me! I got:

'Finest' Beef Chianti with Rosemary potatoes
2 x smoked salmon and tuna sushi packs (8s)
2 x chilli chicken wraps (2s)
Chicken & bacon wraps (2s)
Pot of avovado & chilli crush
Avocado
Chicken Korma & rice
Thai green curry & Jasmine rice
2 x liver, bacon & mash
Tub of 'Finest' coleslaw
Pizza Express American hot pizza
3 x wafer thin packs roast turkey
3 x packs thick sliced roast chicken
Pack of Brunswick ham
Chicken & chorizo butty
'Finest' smoked salmon & cream cheese butty
2 x tubs Lurpak butter (250g)
Pack of 6 ready sliced Warburton bread rolls
Pack assorted sliced German sausage
Tub ham, egg & coleslaw salad
Chicken & bacon sandwich filler

That lot should have cost me well over £60 but I paid only £16.47p. It really pays to check the short-dated food. I eat like a King for pennies!
