Saw Brooks' goal on Sky Sports and it was a cracking strike. Their reporter said that Muff have upped their game second half and the goal was due. Also said that the first half was like a training game but Swans now struggling to keep them out as Muff take control.

Good grasscutter strike from just outside the area inside the far post to the keeper's left. Reporter said that was about the first time we've been in their third of the field this half!!

PS: Loved Grimes' penalty. That's how to put 'em away!

Winner timed at 90+1 through Darling's legs. Could have been stopped. Ah well, I know it's early doors in the season but at least we can now concentrate on our relegation fight because that's where we're at right now. A losing, or at least a non-winning habit, is hard to shake and Duff had better start getting a tune out of these players pretty damned quick else we really will be in a relegation battle.

Can't comment on the performance as I didn't see the game with no radio commentary to go on either. However Sky reporters said that Muff were easily the better team and deserved to win. Losing to a stoppage time goal to a Premier League outfit is no disgrace but then I don't know what sort of team Muff fielded. If they had a lot of kids out there, that doesn't make us look any too clever. All I know is that we were stuffed on the stats:

POSSESSION: 43-57 SHOTS: 5-21 OT: 2-8 CORNERS: 3-9 FOULS: 20-12 GOALS: 2-3

Duff reckoned we were decent enough but I've learned to take his comments with not so much a pinch, more like a handful, of salt. We are in dire need of some committed 90 minute performances and some three pointers, with the latter being the priority right now.

Can those of you at the match offer an opinion on Ginnelly and Cullen, individually and in combination. On Myk also.

From the radio commentary, Ginnelly was causing problems and taking a hammering from defenders and Cullen was busy also and on the end of some rough treatment.

I didn't see the game so can't comment but we dished out the dirt ourselves 20 fouls to 12. What concerns me is that we ran out of gas in the second half; either that or the Muff manager out-thought Duff during the interval. Alarming because this is becoming a trend where we tend to be on top for the first 45 then fall to pieces after the break - a point raised by several journos I've read.

If this is the case, what happened to Duff's proposed fitness regime, which was supposed to have us in energetic mode from first whistle to last? From what I've seen we're no fitter than we were under Martin and our football is nowhere near as effective in terms of results. So, I ask again, exactly what is Duff bringing to our party? So far it's a burst balloon.

Duffer more than Duff ... it appears. The 20:12 ratio on fouls is an interesting data point ... finally we're putting in some muscle but perhaps out of desperation instead of assertion.

Muff put on 3 changes at half time, those players had a combined valuation of over £40 million , they promptly upped the pace and those 3 dominated the game .
Yes, but our defending was shockingly poor for all three goals.

We lose possession in the middle of the park and the ball bounces back into our half. Suddenly we are overloaded, especially on the left, as Abdulai and Oli Cooper fell asleep. But we can still do better here. We play three at the back and the three at the back should hold their positions no matter what. The worst thing is when defenders create confusion by leaving their positions to 'help'. Naughton plays in the middle of the back three and should mark the Bournemouth striker in the middle (red number three). Cabango, playing on the left, should mark the Bournemouth player on our left (red number 5). Darling is behind the Bournemouth player on our right (red number 1), which is fine. Grimes is also doing the right thing here, covering the defensive midfield.

Look at what Naughton and Cabango do instead. Naughton runs towards the Bournemouth player (red number 2), who is also marked by Grimes, leaving his man behind. Cabango is suddenly left alone with two Bournemouth attackers, so he decides to do Naughton's job by marking the Bournemouth attacker in the middle (red number 3), leaving the Bournemouth player on the left (red number 5) completely unmarked.

(Red arrows show the wrong moves, the yellow show the right moves.)

This is the result of Naughton and Cabango's "I want to help" stupidity. Brooks gets the ball totally unmarked and scores.

Here is another example of poor defending. I see this in too many games, even in the top leagues, and I'm really surprised that so many defenders make the same mistake game after game. When they try to block a shot, they either jump with their legs outstretched or they take a step and leave a tunnel between their legs. In both cases, they're not doing their goalkeeper any favours. A slide block is much, much better.

The ball goes under the Cabago's legs and Brooks scores.

Our complete back line is watching the ball here. Six against one, and that one scores.
Incredible.
