Sad news indeed. He was only 35 and leaves a wife and young child. This sort of thing transcends football rivalry and I offer my sincerest condolences and sympathy to his family and friends. And yes, to Cardiff City supporters as well. He made well over 400 appearances for Cardiff scoring 98 goals and, arguably, had the sweetest left foot in the game. Far too young to pass away. RIP, Peter, you left behind some great memories for your fans.

Cardiff have not had many class players in the last 10 years. Wittingham was class and would have graced our team .

Being quite active on the CCFC forum I conveyed our condolences and sympathy from our forum, and received a genuinely nice reply from Sven, their mod.

Thanks, JF, was considering doing the same myself but have never posted on Cardiff forums. I 'liked' several posts about him on WOL though. Seems that Peter was a really nice guy and it often appears that the good die young. Quite what that says about me at my age I hesitate to guess!
