Question ?
How long do you think it should take a new manager to put his mark on a club?
Watford are now on their 15th manager in 10 years, with Ranieri being sacked after 14 games.

In a relegation fight 30 minutes (Big Sam).
In a forward looking club, seeking improvement, one and a half seasons.
Watford rely on continuous New Manager Bounce.
I think Watford have shot themselves in the foot,
Would any manager of any standing want to go to a club, knowing if he didn't produce the results instantly he'd be out of a job.

No one of any standing would go to Watford anyway with all due respect to them. But there's plenty of lesser lights who'd be happy to give it a go and pocket, for the likes of us, life changing money when their contract is paid up after being sacked.

It depends on:

  • How good the manager is
  • How good the squad is
  • What brand of football he is trying to implement
  • What you mean by 'put the mark on the club'
I would say one year and two transfer windows. Agree with @Behindthegoal about relegation threatened clubs.

By putting his mark on the club, by showing progress throughout the season.
