U23 v Boro

Key Player
Here's today's line-up and members of the first team squad are now playing to get game time.

Swans U23s: Josh Gould; Tivonge Rushesha, Cameron Evans, Brandon Cooper, Declan John; Jack Evans (captain), Kees de Boer; Oli Cooper, Barrie McKay, Kristoffer Peterson; Liam Cullen.

Subs: Lewis Webb, Jake Thomas, Ryan Bevan, Keiran Evans, Mason Jones-Thomas.

It's becoming like an old time Combination team. With in the influx of other clubs' unders into our senior squad, our unders are now being set aside to give our seniors - who can't get it done - game time.

Hopefully young Liam Cullen will thrive, learn and benefit from playing with others of greater experience because I think he can go on to become a very good asset for us.

5 -1 Cullen 3 Peterson 2. But it won't even get them on the bench.
Cullen should teach Celina and Ayew how to score from a curling shot. And Peterson should teach our midfielders how to put a killer through ball into opposition box.

Celina and Ayew can learn from Cullen how to score from a curling shot.
I've championed Cullen for a long time and he seems a natural goal scorer to me. Like to see him given a chance. I doubt he'd hit the ground running but, once he got experience and found the tempo of the higher level, I think he'd do well for us. But he would need time.

For me, Cullen just seems to have that 'something' as a striker. Never makes a fuss, just quietly gets on with it and, as I've said before, he knows where the net is.

Now reading that Cameron Toshack wants Liam at Pafos although the club denied it. Makes sense for them though. Also, Liam's contract is up in the summer and I'd like to know what fcuk the club are doing about an extension. It would be madness to let him go. We should retain him and if we don't promote him to the first team squad then let him go on loan to get used to the pace and physicality of league football.

GREAT news!! Cooper has said this morning that Liam Cullen is an important part of his future plans and will be offered a new contract along with Brandon Cooper and a couple of others. Seems that it won't be long before Liam is promoted to the first team squad and I'm really chuffed for the young man. Been following his progress for quite a while now and it's nice to see my confidence in him being vindicated. :)

Liam Cullen is at it again!! The U23s beat Everton Unders 4-0 and young Liam scored the lot!! :) We qualified top of our group in the Premier League International Cup although we only had to avoid defeat by 3 goals to do so. Nevertheless, this 4 goal thumping of last season's league and cup double winners, was a superb result. Liam has scored 10 goals in 6 games at the start of 2020 and 17 for the season so far. About time he was in the first team squad.

Promote him now. Blood him in. If we're going to put Borja on the bench and only use him when AP is out of ideas (doesn't take long) then Cullen can just as easily be on the bench in place of Borja or Routs for that matter. But ... he does need to get on the field to be any use.

WOL saying today that Liam is not so much knocking on the door of the first team squad but kicking it off its hinges!! We need to give him his contract extension before the big clubs start circling but, once he does make the move to the first team, he must be given time to adjust to the new level by developing him slowly so he can learn without the weight of expectation on his young shoulders. Striker is arguably the most difficult position in a team given that he has to rely on others to create the chances. Get him in as soon as but remember that patience is the key.
